A Timeless And Romantic Love Story At Virginia Park Lodge
Selene + Thomas’ Virginia Park Lodge Wedding
Extended Story FILM
Tell us all about you! What do you do? How do you spend your free time? What's important in life?
Thomas: I work for Home Building Finance Ireland as part of the NTMA. Spent a decade travelling around Europe for work before this. My main love in life is sport (football, rugby, F1 & MMA mainly), fitness & gym and my PS4 (still a child at heart). The main thing that is important to me in life is friends and family, love social gatherings.
Selene: I've spent most of my working life in communications and PR, currently working for an aircraft leasing company. My other passion is interior design and would possibly take this on as my retirement career. I love music and dance (spent almost 20 years of my life involved in Irish dancing in some shape or form) and today spend a lot of time in the yoga studio. My other great love is horses and if we don't get a bigger garden then someday I'll just put a Shetland pony out there. Basically, I love to cram as many things into my life as possible.
Why did you decide to capture your Virginia Park Lodge wedding on video?
It's something we look forward to having for the years and re-watching to remind us of the day. Also, we know that there is so much going on during the day that we may miss and we want to be able to capture these moments. Particularly the time we will spend apart from each other on the morning of the wedding and people's reactions throughout the day.
Why did you choose Amber Tree Filmhouse to film your wedding?
We looked at a lot of videographers but we wanted a more modern cinematic style. One which feels different from the traditional wedding videos and one that suits us. The lighting, style and candid elements of the sample videos we saw captured us.
Tell me all about the proposal! Spare no detail, I want to hear it all!
Selene's birthday is 4th Feb and she loves snow above almost anything else. There was none last year near our home so I wanted to bring her up to Glendalough to walk in the snow for her birthday. We have taken many walks up there in the past and I also knew she used to go up there with her family as a kid and had a very specific place she would sit and look out over the lakes. Her "Contemplation Rock". I guided her towards this spot at the end of our walk and I knew she would want to relax there for a moment. That's where I sat down beside her, overlooking the lakes and asked her the big question.
Why did you choose Virginia Park Lodge as your venue? What made it special to you?
We are very big foodies and really want to make this a key part of the day. The owner of the venue is Richard Corrigan, a Michelin star chef. The team at the venue are trained by him. Also, the whole venue is amazing. For the ceremony, we chose the polytunnel because we wanted something a little unconventional.... after a million church weddings, we want to have something different for ourselves as well as our guests.
