Tell us all about you! What do you do? How do you spend your free time? What's important in life?
Both of us work in PR. Because of the 'switched on' nature of a lot of our paid work, when we do get free time, we like nothing better than to switch off. This regularly includes walks, hikes and going out for meals but can be as simple as lying at opposite ends of the couch and talking the night away. As for what's important in life, family, friends, community and of course, each other. Work means very little if it doesn't compliment the rest.
Why did you decide to capture your Bellingham Castle wedding on video?
There's something unique about the video that picks up on people's personality in a much truer sense than still photographs and we wanted to capture moments and scenes as apposed to singular shots. In addition, just before we got engaged, we dug out the wedding videos of our parents, and despite having not seen them in years, it was evident how much it meant to them to see the faces and hear the voices of relatives and loved ones who had passed away for the first time in 25 or 26 years. Seeing how much it meant to them to have video footage of them, cemented our desire to have video footage of our own.
Why did you choose Amber Tree Filmhouse to film your wedding?
We loved the authenticity in your sample work and how you were able to capture the importance of the day for those involved while being able to include a wide variety of people in the final cuts as well. It was important for us for the videography to not feel forced or uncomfortable and we're confident you guys do that well.
Tell me all about the proposal! Spare no detail, I want to hear it all!
We had both lamented the idea of grand gestures around engagement. For us, it felt forced to do that. Instead, we wanted the proposal to be part of the places and people that are most important to us. So, when it came to it, the perfect place to ask the question was in Charlotte's home. When we were in the hallway I simply asked her to close her eyes and that I had bought something for her (I later found out she had expected a Kinder Egg). Despite her desires, when she opened her eyes, I was on one knee and asked the very simple question. "Will you marry me?"
Why did you choose Bellingham Castle as your venue? What made it special to you?
Bellingham Castle is perfect for what we want to achieve from our big day. They host one wedding per day, meaning that every guest present is there for the same reason - creating (hopefully) a perfect atmosphere of familiarity. Charlotte's sister was also married in Bellingham Castle and we were blown away by their professionalism and service throughout the day.
